Security beefed up at Union Station after Al Qaeda train plot

LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - Commuters at Union Station in Los Angeles tell FOX 11 they aren't concerned with Al Qaeda's latest plot to attack trains in the United States and Europe.

In the latest edition of the terror organizations "Inspire" magazines, followers are instructed on how to attack train compartments and stations, and also how to derail trains.

The Department of Homeland Security released a memo saying they aren't aware of any credible threats to mass transit in the U.S., but they are concerned about the constant threats from Al Qaeda.

FOX 11 stopped by Union station to talk to commuters about the threat.

"Union Station is like an LAX, it's a gateway to the city, so it is a prime target," said Robert Adjinian, a cab driver. "But I'm really confident in our forces, I'm a veteran myself, and I'm pretty confident we can resolve these kinds of issues."

"Status quo, business as usual I would assume," said Jerry Wright, a passenger. "I wouldn't think it'd be particularly valuable, maybe a symbolic thing, the operation is relatively limited it's not like it's a big European metroplex or something."

David Miner told FOX 11 he's visiting LA for the first time from England.

"The kind of the mentality you've got to have is just get on with things and try not to let it affect you," he said.
