Search underway for missing Malibu woman with bipolar disorder

Sheriff's investigators and volunteers in Malibu are searching for a woman who went missing a week ago in Malibu.

Julia Snyder, 53, was last seen on February 8 near her home on the 4300 block of Ocean View Drive in Malibu around 9 p.m.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office says Snyder suffers from bipolar disorder and doesn’t have her medication with her.

Search efforts began Saturday at 7 a.m. and is expected to conclude at sundown. Michael Rodriguez with the sheriff’s office Homicide Missing Person Unit says officials and volunteers are diligently searching the hillsides and rural areas near her home as well as passing out missing person posters in the area.

“Family members are very concerned for her wellbeing as no one has seen her since that time. We have conducted numerous search operations deploying the use of specially trained K9 dogs in search recognition,” Rodriguez stated Saturday morning.

Snyder is described as white, 5-feet-7-inches tall and 140 pounds, with long straight blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and flannel pajamas.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts was urged to call the sheriff's Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
