Santa Ana PD asking community for help identifying suspect in theft, knife assault case

Santa Ana police are asking the community for help identifying a man in a theft and assault with a deadly weapon case.

Authorities released photos and a surveillance video of the suspect who they say entered the Macy's department store located at 2850 N. Main Street at about 7 p.m. on Jan. 16. and began removing clothing from the racks.

The unidentified man then began walking towards the exit when he was confronted by two loss prevention officers prompting the suspect to take out a knife and swing it at the two officers, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

Police say the suspect dropped the clothing after the confrontation with the loss prevention officers and ran away eastbound through the parking lot.
