Pregnant teen killed during hit-and-run crash in Riverside

Isaac Blackhorse Garcia

A pregnant teenager was killed during a hit-and-run crash in Riverside.

Investigators with the Riverside Police Department said the suspect, 19-year-old Isaac Blackhorse Garcia of Moreno Valley, was in a sexual relationship with the victim’s teenage sister.

The collision happened Feb. 2, around 11:45 p.m., in the 1500 block of Gregg Place, in the University neighborhood.

Police said Blackhorse Garcia had dropped the victim's sister off at home when family members approached his vehicle. He then sped away, striking the victim with his car.

The pregnant woman suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she later died. Medical staff managed to deliver her baby, who remains in critical condition.

The victim's age and name have not been released.

Officers located Blackhorse Garcia's vehicle in Moreno Valley and took him into custody.

He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of murder, hit-and-run resulting in death, and unlawful sex with a minor. He is being held without bail.

Detectives believe there may be other minors whom Blackhorse Garcia sexually abused.
