Rhode Island tourism video accidentally uses footage from Iceland

A tourism video for Rhode Island is getting attention, but for the wrong reason.

The video was part of a reported $5 million campaign to promote the U.S. state to tourists. It was shared on an official state website before people pointed out that a shot from Iceland's capital city was squeezed between scenes from The Ocean State, and the video was pulled.

The video remains up, however, on Governor Gina Raimondo's Twitter account.

The short video opens with a shot of the Conimicut lighthouse and Providence's Union Station before showing a skateboarder in front of a glass building that has now been identified as Reykjavik's Harpa concert hall.

The out of place footage has been described as an honest mistake by Rhode Island tourism officials. The Providence Journal reports that a local advertising company put the video together and were told to only use Rhode Island footage.
