Resident pistol-whipped in Hollywood Hills home invasion

Two gunmen who beat a resident during a home invasion robbery in the Hollywood Hills remained at large Sunday.

The suspects -- one wearing a ski mask, the other a bandana -- entered a home in the 2600 block of Astral Drive about 3:35 a.m. Saturday, according to Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations section.

The suspects demanded property and a victim was beaten with a gun before the duo fled in a Nissan Maxima, Herrera said. The vehicle was found nearby -- in the area of Nichols Canyon Road and La Canstana Drive -- with some of the stolen property inside, along with the ski mask and bandana worn by the suspects, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was in good condition, Herrera said.

Another person in the home suffered a sprained ankle trying to run away, according to media outlets, which reported that the suspects made off with a large amount of marijuana that was believed to have been grown in the home.

Herrera said she could not confirm the reported ankle injury or marijuana theft.
