Rep. Schiff calls for 9/11-style commission for coronavirus
LOS ANGELES - "People are going to want to know, why America wasn't better prepared?"
Congressman Adam Schiff (D-28th District) is joining with California's Senators, Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris, in introducing legislation to create a 9/11-style commission to investigate the coronavirus response in America.
"Why wasn't testing done immediately? Why didn't we have the protective gear & ventilators in stock?" Schiff asked
during an interview with FOX 11 News anchor Elex Michaelson.
"Most importantly, what do we do to protect the country going forward?"
After the September 11th attacks, members of both parties were appointed to a commission to investigate how the country could avoid similar incidents in the future.
Schiff said the idea "has bipartisan support" and the commission wouldn't begin until next year, so as to give first responders space to deal with the imminent crisis.
