Registered sex offender seen loitering outside elementary school attempting to talk to students
ALHAMBRA, Calif. - A registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday after he was seen loitering outside an elementary school attempting to talk to a student, authorities said.
Am Ta, 46, was detained outside of Ramona Elementary School in Alhambra after the student he had attempted to speak with reported his strange behavior to school officials, who contacted police.
Throughout their investigation, police learned that Ta is a registered sex offender due to a prior misdemeanor sexual offense. Ta was arrested for misdemeanor child annoyance and transported to the Alhambra City Jail.
Police reassured the public that Ta did not enter school grounds and did not have any physical contact with any students.
The Alhambra Police Department was asking anyone with any information about Ta, or anyone that has had any prior contact with him, to contact the Alhambra Police Department Detective Bureau at 626-570-5157.
