Pregnant woman shot in South LA, killing unborn baby

SOUTH LA, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - Homicide detectives are searching for the gunman who shot a pregnant woman multiple times Thursday in South Los Angeles, killing her unborn baby.

"My heart goes out to the family and the young lady because it is a tragedy," said Tonya Floyd, who lives across the street from the crime scene.

It happened early Thursday in the 1300th block of 77th Street. The woman was transported to California Hospital where she underwent surgery.

"It's so sad and I am hoping the police will be able to find out who did this," said Floyd.

Witnesses say they heard four gunshots and saw a woman lying in front of a home. She was shot several times according to LAPD officers at the scene and found partially nude.

Police tell FOX 11 the gunman is still at large. They are still interviewing residents in the neighborhood and looking at security video from neighbors.
