Police search for man wanted in attempted teen kidnapping on school grounds

Police in Ontario are searching for a male suspect after police say he grabbed a 14-year-old girl and attempted to kidnap and assault her on the Chaffey High School grounds on Saturday.

The girl was departing on foot through the campus after an evening school event when the man approached her and suddenly grabbed her, pulled her into a dark area and attempted to remove her clothing.

The girl managed to break free of the suspect's grasp and ran away while the man briefly chased her. Employees from the school noticed the girl running and came to assist. The man suddenly turned and ran towards 5th Street - away from the school grounds.

The man is described as a Hispanic adult in his late 30's, early 40's, Ontario Police said. He stands about 5-foot-10-inches and weighed about 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The girl reported that the man had a "patchy, unshaven beard" and was last seen wearing a blue/grey long-sleeve hoodie with yellow writing on the sleeves, black jeans and white athletic shoes.

Surveillance video captured the girl running away from the man on the school grounds.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Ontario detectives at 909-395-2764 or 909-395-2001. Information can also be reported anonymously at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or www.wetip.com.
