Police investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (FOX 11) - Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that took place late Sunday night in San Bernardino.
Officers responded to the intersection of 4th Street N. and Allen Street after receiving a call for service around 11:15 p.m. The caller reported a domestic disturbance involving weapons.
Officers made contact with the suspect, who was later identified as 31-year-old Sokhom Hon, of San Bernardino, and attempted to calm him down and have him put the weapon down. Witnesses said that Hon refused to comply when officers told him to drop his weapon. When that didn't work, officers deployed a taser, which was also unsuccessful.
At that point, Hon allegedly charged at the officers and was subsequently shot by law enforcement, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. No officers were injured in the shooting.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m. Monday, according to police.
