'Pokemon Go' possibly connected to assault and attempted robbery of 2 men in Lakewood

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lakewood Station detectives have learned that two men were walking home on South Street from Clark Avenue in the city of Lakewood after playing the game 'Pokemon Go' on their cell phones.

A tan four-door vehicle, possibly a Chevy Impala, pulled alongside the victims. A male black adult passenger exited the vehicle and approached the victims with a black handgun. The male suspect demanded the victim's property.

One of the victims charged at the suspect and began to struggle with the suspect for the firearm. During the struggle, the victim was hit multiple times in the face with the handgun by the suspect. The suspect ran back to the tan vehicle, which then sped toward the victims and attempted to run over them. The victims were able to get out of the way before being struck by the vehicle.

The suspect's vehicle sped away westbound on South Street and out of view.

The suspect was described as a male Black, 18-25 years old, 5'10, thin build, with short hair. There is no driver description available.
