18 victims of Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire identified
LOS ANGELES - Eighteen of the victims found dead in the Palisades and Eaton Fires in Los Angeles County have been identified, the Medical Examiner's Office announced on Friday.
The Palisades and Eaton fires both broke out on Jan. 7. In just days, the fires burned nearly 40,000 acres in the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Altadena and Pasadena. Thousands of structures have also been destroyed.
As of Saturday, 28 people have lost their lives in the fires: 17 were killed by the Eaton Fire and 11 have been killed by the Palisades Fire.
Some estimates put the cost of wildfire recovery in the hundreds of billions of dollars.

In the LA County Medical Examiner's latest report issued on Friday, 18 of the 28 fires have been identified. The victims range in age from 56 to 94 between the two fires.

Four of the victims killed in the Palisades Fire have yet to be identified. Six of the victims of the Eaton Fire have not been identified.
