Oskri sunflower butter and tahini butter recalled due to listeria risk

Oskri Organics Corp., a Lake Mills, Wisconsin, company, is recalling lots of its Oskri Organic Sunflower Butter, Oskri Tahini Butter, and Thrive Sunflower Butter because of the possibility of listeria contamination, according to the FDA.

Listeria infection can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. However, infections in pregnant women can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, and more, according to the CDC, and infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems can very serious and sometimes fatal.

These are the recalled lots:

Some jars were sold online directly to consumers and others were sold at retail. The company said recalled products reached consumers in California, Arizona, Georgia, Connecticut, Indiana, Ohio, Texas, Florida, Idaho, South Carolina, and New Hampshire.

In December, a customer decided to randomly test an Oskri product, which came back positive for listeria, the company said.

"An investigation is still ongoing to find the source of the Listeria monocytogenes," Oskri said. "We have ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and Oskri continue their investigation as to what caused the problem."

You should discard any of these products if you have them. If you have any questions may contact Oskri at 920-648-8300 or info@oskri.com.
