Officers shoot suspect who rammed police cruiser in Rialto

Officers shot and wounded a man who rammed their police cruiser after crashing his pickup truck through a fence at a family member's home in Rialto.

Police responded around 2 a.m. Monday to a report of a possibly intoxicated man driving on the lawn outside of a residence, honking and yelling out of the vehicle's window.

Authorities said when officers responded, the suspect tried ramming through the police cruisers to escape.

Police said the suspect, who was not immediately identified, was struck by gunfire at least once and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Video showed a crashed pickup with several bullet holes in the windshield.

No officers were hurt. The shooting is under investigation.
