Newport Harbor closed to swimmers after sewage spill
NEWPORT BEACH (FOX 11 / CNS) - The water at Harbor Marina in Newport Beach remains off-limits Friday following a sewage spill.
About 100 gallons of sewage was reported spilled at 11:20 a.m. Thursday due to a blockage in a private property owner's sewer line that connects a building to a main sewer pipe, authorities said.
The Orange County Health Care Agency said beachgoers have to stay out of the water until at least Saturday.
When tests show the water quality meets acceptable standards, that stretch of the beach will be reopened, authorities said.
