Mother arrested for murder after leaving toddler in hot car for hours

A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her daughter. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says 2-year-old June Love Agosto died after being left in a hot car for hours while in Torrance. 

Nearly a week after her death Homicide Bureau Investigators arrested 34-year-old Lacey Mazzarella for murder. Mazzarella has been booked at the Carson Sheriff’s Station.

According to the police report, the girl's mother left little June buckled up in her car seat with a blanket on her, the windows rolled up and the heat on for about 4 to 5 hours.

The mom admitted to police she was drinking in a vehicle next to her car with a friend and fell asleep. 

She woke up about five hours later and opened her car door to find vomit on her baby’s clothes and burns on her skin. 

According to the police report, June was taken to the hospital in full cardiac arrest where he later died. 

The investigation is ongoing.
