Mother accused of allowing boyfriend to abuse 9-month-old twin boys

A mother and her boyfriend are facing charges after Lincolnton police say she allowed him to abuse her 9-month-old twin boys.

On Wednesday, November 9, a report was taken by Lincolnton Police Department about a case referred by Social Services concerning physical child abuse of toddlers.

The victims in the case were two 9-month old twin boys who suffered serious physical injuries that required them to be hospitalized, according to police.

Hayley Danielle Hoyle, 31 of Lincolnton and the children's mother, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of allowing child abuse resulting in physical injury.

Keith Lee Clontz, 32 of Newton, and Hoyle's boyfriend at the time of the abuse, is charged with two felony counts of intentional child abuse resulting in physical injury.

Hoyle and Clontz were arrested on Friday, November 18.

Hoyle has since posted bond and is currently out of jail. Her first court appearance is set for December 2.

Clontz received a $150,000 secured bond and is still in the the Lincolnton County Jail. His first court date was set for Monday, November 21.

Clontz has prior convictions for felony manufacturing marijuana with aggravating factors, assault, larceny, trespassing, driving while impaired and other traffic related offenses.
