Missing Azusa middle school student found, police say

A 12-year-old girl dependent on medication who went missing Friday morning in Azusa was later found that evening, police said Saturday.

Alenka Olid was found at 11:55 p.m. Friday in the city of Los Angeles, according to Azusa police Cpl. Nick Covarrubias.

Covarrubias said it was not immediately known who found the child or where she was found in Los Angeles.

Police called about 11 a.m. Friday to Foothill Middle School at 151 N. Fenimore Ave. learned that Olid arrived at school about 8 a.m.

As she was emptying belongings from her locker, she told a friend she was leaving to find her father, Francisco Javier Olid, who possibly works or lives in Bell Gardens, according to Azusa police.

It was unclear what means of transportation the child intended to use.
