Metrolink train fatally strikes pedestrian in Orange County
DANA POINT, Calif. - A Metrolink train fatally struck a pedestrian Thursday in Dana Point.
At 4:53 p.m., Inland Empire-Orange County Line 812 struck a person on the tracks near Palisades Drive between the San Clemente Station and the San Juan Capistrano Metro Station, according to Metrolink spokesman Paul Gonzales.
As of 6:15 p.m., the passengers remained on board the train at the scene and will be able to leave as soon as investigators allow. The train's service has been canceled for the evening, Gonzales said.
The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately known and there were no further details about the person.
