Metro Red Line assault in downtown L.A. results in suspect's death

The Los Angeles Police Department has released video from an arrest in December 2018 that resulted in the death of the suspect.

That suspect, identified as 47-year-old Husie Outing III, was involved in two separate crimes just minutes apart. Police say Outing was tackled by construction workers after he attacked one of them in the morning of Dec. 19. The assault happened near 5th and Flower streets.

Earlier, police say Outing pushed a 14-year-old boy onto the Metro Red Line tracks at the 5th and Hill Street station.

Outing ran off. The teen was rescued before the train arrived.

LAPD also released body cam video showing officers struggling with Outing. In the video, you can hear officers threatening to tase Outing.

After Outing was handcuffed, he suffered some kind of medical emergency. Paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital where he later died. Results of the Coroner's autopsy are still pending.

The police commission will determine whether the officers' actions were within policy.
