McDonald's asking to add drive-thru to its oldest operating restaurant
The world's oldest operating McDonalds may be in for a big change.
The restaurant is located in Downey at the corner of Lakewood Boulevard and Florence Ave.
It retains the classic look -- including the giant golden arches, outdoor seating and walk-up windows.
But McDonalds says the restaurant is not profitable for one reason-- no drive-thru. So, they have submitted plans to add one.
McDonalds says a drive-thru accounts for 65-percent of sales at their other locations.
The Downey Planning Commission will take up the proposal on Wednesday.
