Man killed, woman wounded in apparent gang-related shooting

A woman was undergoing surgery today after she was wounded in Norwalk in a shooting that claimed a man's life, authorities said.

The shooting occurred in the 15100 block of Grayland Avenue around 10:30p.m. Wednesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.

Homicide detectives said the victims were walking south on Grayland when a while vehicle rolled up alongside them and two males got out. One opened fire with a 9 mm handgun, said sheriff's Sgt. Joaquin Rincon. The assailants
then drove off, headed north on Grayland.

The man was pronounced dead at a hospital, and the woman was in serious condition, said Deputy Trina Schrader.
