Man killed, three wounded in Willowbrook gang-related shootout
WILLOWBROOK, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A man was killed in unincorporated Willowbrook in an apparently gang-related shootout with three other men, who were critically wounded, authorities said today.
The shooting occurred at 10:11 p.m. Tuesday in the 13800 block of South Avalon Boulevard, west of the Harbor (110) Freeway, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Lisa Jansen.
The fatally wounded man, who was 22, died at the scene. His name was withheld, pending family notification. The survivors are in their 30s and 40s. "Homicide detectives learned that (the fatally wounded man) walked up
to three men ... congregating at the location, produced a handgun, and fired several rounds, striking all of the victims,'' a sheriff's statement said. "The victims were also armed, and returned fire striking the suspect/victim
numerous times.''
Investigators said the shooting appeared to have been gang-related.
Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
