The violence occurred at 41st Place and Main Street about 12:05 a.m., said Los Angeles police Sgt. German Hurtado.

"They were patrons of a bar," Hurtado said. There was an argument after one man, the victim, urinated on someone's tire."

As the victim walked away from the vehicle, the vehicle pulls up and the passenger hits the victim with a bat and knocks him into the street," the sergeant said. "His injuries were consistent with repeated beating."

Witnesses told police that once the victim was lying in the street "the driver of the vehicle went up the street, made a U-turn and came back and ran him over," Hurtado said.

The suspects fled in the vehicle, he said.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died, Hurtado said.
