Man hit with metal pipe in Garden Grove attack
GARDEN GROVE (FOX 11 / CNS) - A man who chased down three suspects he saw tampering with his vehicle was hospitalized Friday after he was assaulted by the men in Garden Grove.
At 10:51 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to area of Brookhurst and Central Avenue in response to a fight, said Garden Grove police Sgt. Nick Jensen.
Officers learned three men who were possibly tampering with another man's vehicle assaulted the victim when he chased after them, Jensen said.
During the attack, one of the suspects allegedly struck the victim with a metal pole in the upper body, according to Jensen. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Several witnesses observed the attack and one of them had cell phone video of it, which was given to officers, Jensen said.
The suspects were described as being between 18 and 25 years of age and all were seen wearing plaid jackets with hoods, according to Jensen.
