Man found dead inside home after report of shooting in Sherman Oaks

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. - Police were called to investigate a shooting in the 4600 block of Burnet Avenue, northeast of the intersection of Sepulveda and Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks on Friday.

Authorities reportedly received a call of shots fired at about 3:30 p.m. Arriving officers heard gunshots coming from inside a home on Burnet Avenue and later found a man dead inside from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Los Angeles Police Department.

The man's identity has not been released. The home had been roped off as nearby residences were evacuated and a SWAT team and crisis negotiators were called in.

No further details were immediately known.
