Man fatally shot after allegedly holding hotel employees hostage
LONG BEACH, Calif. (FOX 11/CNS) - A gunman was shot to death by police at a Holiday Inn in Long Beach early Friday morning, authorities said.
Officers went to the Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport hotel at 2640 N. Lakewood Blvd. about 12:50 a.m. in response to a report of a person with a gun, said Long Beach Police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
Officers made contact with the man in the lobby area of the hotel, where the officer-involved shooting occurred. Details on what led up to the shooting were not immediately available, but police said the suspect had held two hotel employees hostage.
The suspect was taken to a hospital where he died, Pratt said.
No officers or civilians were injured in the shooting.
