Man caught yelling 'White power' in LAPD shirt arrested for impersonating cop
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (FOX 11) - Sheriff's deputies in West Hollywood arrested a man early Friday morning accused of impersonating a police officer.
Authorities say the deputies found 36-year-old Daniel Sohn sleeping in a car in the parking lot of a business in the 1200 block of North La Brea Avenue.
"Deputies approached the vehicle to investigate (because) overnight parking is prohibited on that business property," said a statement from the LA County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities say the deputies noticed Sohn was wearing a long-sleeve shirt with an LAPD logo on the front and patches on the sleeves.
One of the deputies reportedly recognized the man as the person in a video posted on social media outside a West Hollywood 24-Hour Fitness yelling "White power" to a group of demonstrators.
During questioning, the deputies realized Sohn was not a police officer with any law enforcement agency and was arrested for impersonating a police officer, according to authorities.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office at 310-855-8850.
