Man attempts to abduct child in Placentia

(FOX 11) - Placentia Police Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Lark Avenue regarding an attempted child abduction. The seven-year-old victim said she was riding her scooter near her home when she observed the suspect sitting on a bench.

The victim did not know the suspect. As the victim rode by the suspect on her way home, the suspect jumped up from the bench and grabbed the victim from behind. The victim was able to break free from the suspect and began screaming for help.The victim's babysitter and a security guard came out upon hearing the screams and the suspect fled the area on foot.The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a male, black, adult, approximately 5'7" with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue shirt, and black pants. He had a distinctive red "Mohawk" haircut. No other suspects or vehicles were seen.
