Is Luka Doncic playing tonight against the Clippers?

After one of the most shocking trades in NBA history, Luka Doncic was introduced by the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday morning.

While the 25-year-old international superstar said he’s still processing the big move, he’s also thankful for the opportunity.

"It was honestly hard at first. That first day was really hard. I feel like these last 48 hours were like one month. Emotionally, it was really hard but every day…today was much better. I’m just very happy to be here for this opportunity. It’s the Lakers. It’s one of the best clubs in history, so I'm excited to be here," Doncic said.

For those who have been paying attention, Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks formed a growing rivalry with the LA Clippers in recent years. The Clippers were victorious for the first two matchups in 2020 and 2021, while the Mavs were victorious and made it all the way to the NBA Finals last spring.

Therefore, adding Doncic to the Clippers’ crosstown rivals is must-see basketball.

While the Lakers are scheduled to take on the Clippers at their new arena on Tuesday night, Doncic is not expected to make his debut as he continues to recover from a calf injury.

Doncic explained this is the first time in his career he's allowed himself to fully recover from an injury.

"For the first time I took my time, other times I just wanted to get back on the court. This time I took my time to get back to 100%," Doncic said.

"We have 5-on-5 scheduled tomorrow, and we’re going to take it one day at a time to make sure the calf injury is a good and safe place," added Lakers general manager, Rob Pelinka.

For now, Doncic is considered day-to-day.
