Liquor store clerks hospitalized in violent robbery

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - Two clerks inside a liquor store in Hawthorne are attacked after a suspect refuses to pay for his purchases. This happened Tuesday night at the Pound Penny Liquor Store in the 13,000 block of Hawthorne Boulevard.

The suspect attempted to leave without paying for a six-pack of beer. As one clerk approached him to pay, the man then broke a bottle over the clerk's head and then begins to stab the other clerk with the broken bottle pieces. Police believe that there is a second suspect that was involved as well - assaulting the clerks with pieces of trash.

Both clerks were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both suspect are currently at large and being sought by police.
