LA's Most Wanted: Murder of Keyona Turner

Keyona Turner, 16, was shot to death May 1, 2011 as she sat in a friend's car in front her family's home on East 49th Street near Hooper Avenue.

At about 4:20 a.m. on that Sunday morning, someone in a large pick-up truck going north on Hooper fired several apparently random shots down 49th Street.

One of those rounds pierced a window of the car Keyona was seated in and struck her. The teenager died of her wound three days later.

It is unclear if the shooter was a passenger or the driver of the pick-up. It is possible that the person who murdered Keyona is not aware that his shots actually hit anyone.

There may be a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of her killer. Contact Officer Leonardo McKenzie at LAPD's Newton Division at (323) 846-6556.
