LAPD officers bring Christmas cheer to WWII veteran

This holiday season is a time to remember those who are alone. When neighbors hadn't seen 94-year-old, WWII veteran Herman Perry last Friday evening - they called the LAPD.

Officers Natalie Nunez and Abel Torres responded last Friday to the home of Herman Perry in Venice to conduct a wellness check reported by his neighbors.

The officers responded and found that Perry was okay inside his Venice apartment, but noticed he was in fact alone.

After the call, the officers stopped by a nearby tree lot at 1:00am. The owner gave them a tree complete with lights for Perry. Nunez and Torres then returned off-duty to Perry's apartment with the decorated tree.

He's thankful, not just for this tree, but for the love behind it. Perry has lived in his Venice apartment for 29 years.
