Job Finder: Glassdoor noting which companies are experiencing a hiring surge due to COVID-19

Netflix, Apple and Google are all different companies but all of them are currently hiring and listed on one of the largest job sites, Glassdoor.

Sarah Stoddard, a career expert for Glassdoor, says you can do more than just find openings and read about companies. She noted that although unemployment numbers may be at an all-time high, there are more still thousands of companies hiring in Los Angeles.

“We're seeing hiring at companies like, you know, University of Southern California, SpaceX, Walt Disney Company, Bank of America,” she said.

Stoddard explained how Glassdoor not only recognizes the climate we are in because of the coronavirus but wants to help put people back to work too.

For that reason, the company launched a new tool on its website showing users where companies are currently experiencing a hiring surge.

Stoddard explained how it works by first going to glassdoor.com/covid19.

“So for Google, you can see that they just have over 2,000 open jobs around the country. However, you can also sort by Los Angeles…you can see here that okay Apple has just under 6,000 open roles available around the country… again if you're based in the LA area and looking for jobs available at Apple in your area you can sort here by Los Angeles. You can see that there are nearly 90 open roles available at Apple within the LA area,” Stoddard said.

Netflix is hiring too and you will notice on the website, the company is also experiencing a hiring freeze with 300 openings across the country. Of those openings, 74 are available here in LA.

Job –seekers can also deep dive into companies.

You can browse through job descriptions, qualifications and read former employee reviews to get a better idea of what it is like to work for the company.

“So it looks like Netflix has a 4.0 rating which is above the 3.5 average on Glassdoor… It looks like Comp and benefits is rated fairly high at Netflix and then I can also see salary information here reviews and insights," she demonstrated.

As Sarah mentioned, Glassdoor takes it a step further so you can not only find a job but one that’s the right fit before hitting the button to apply.
