Jack In The Box Employee Shot During 'Robbery Gone Bad'

CANOGA PARK (CNS/FOX 11) - An employee of a Jack in the Box in Canoga Park was shot in the hip during a robbery attempt, authorities said Monday.

The attempted armed robbery happened at about 11 p.m. Sunday at the Jack in the Box at Roscoe Boulevard and DeSoto Avenue, Los Angeles police Sgt. Mike Stewart said.

"It was a robbery that went bad,'' Stewart said.

Two suspects in a car ordered food from the drive-through window at the fast food restaurant, he said. When they got to the window they demanded money.

"Apparently he (the employee) couldn't get the register open quickly enough so they shot him one time hitting him in the hip,'' Stewart said. The suspects fled the scene, driving eastbound on Roscoe Boulevard.

The 23-year-old worker had stable vital signs at a hospital, Stewart said.
