Hit-and-run driver crashes into Highland Park cafe

A driver took out a parking meter and crashed through the wall of a cafe in Highland Park Sunday, then fled the scene on foot.

The crash at the Highland Cafe, 5010 York Blvd., occurred about 1:30 a.m., according to a police officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division.

No one was transported to an area hospital from the scene of the crash, he said, adding that he had no other immediate information.

Highland Cafe posted on its Instagram account that it would be closed on Sunday.

"Unfortunately we will be closed today due to a wreckless hit and run. Thankfully no one was hurt #besidesourfeelings," the cafe wrote. "If anyone has any information please share with us and the rightful authorities. We will keep you updated on our progress. Looking forward to a 2nd Grand ReOpening."
