George Tyndall: Former USC gynecologist arrested in sexual abuse cases, reports say

Former USC campus gynecologist Dr. George Tyndall, who is accused of sexual misconduct against hundreds of students, was arrested on Wednesday, sources said.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest of George Tyndall, but did not immediately provide any details.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said that Tyndall was charged with sexually assaulting 16 young women over the course of seven years.

Tyndall, 71, was charged with 18 counts of sexual penetration and 11 counts of sexual battery by fraud, both felonies.

According to the DA's office, the 16 victims range in age from 17 to 29. Each woman went to the facility for annual exams or for other treatment, prosecutors said. The alleged incidents occurred between 2009 and 2016, according to the criminal complaint.

Tyndall and USC have been sued by hundreds of alleged victims, many of whom claim they were inappropriately fondled or photographed by Tyndall under the guise of gynecological exams. Many have also accused him of making sexually charged comments during the exams.
