Gas tax increase goes into effect on Wednesday

You better fill your gas tank in the next couple of days if you want to save a couple bucks

That's because the cost of a gallon of gas is set to go up 12 cents on Wednesday.

But don't blame the oil companies -- it reflects a hike in California's gas tax. The bill signed by Governor Jerry Brown is intended to raise more than $52 billion dollars over the next decade to fix the state's ragged roads.

While some drivers are looking forward to the infrastructure repair nobody's really thrilled about footing the bill

Most drivers are philosophical about the increase, which, for at least a few months, will be balanced out by a seasonal reduction in fuel costs in the state.
