About 700,000 disgruntled Game of Thrones fans want to winter to come again, but differently. A fan named Dylan D. created a petition on change.org a week ago, calling for a season finale re-do.

"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on," Dylan said. "This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

Many fans agree that the writing for Season 8 seems lazy.

"Why did you make us like this woman who only killed who she needed to kill, who just lost her mind and killed everyone including women and children? It was ridiculous," said Game of Thrones fan Rand Rusher.

Petition signatories say the final episodes rush story and character development built over eight seasons.

But fans are still hooked. A record 18.4 million viewers watched the second-to-last episode titled, "The Bells." And some are defending HBO and the Game of Thrones writers, even signing a counter-petition urging people to "stop signing petitions forcing tv shows and movies to meet your demands."

Regardless, a massive audience will be tuning in this Sunday when winter is finally here.
