Franklin Graham: 'Mr. President, You're Looking at the Wrong Place'
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Evangelist Franklin Graham, the son of Rev. Billy Graham, is sending a personal message to President Obama on what he feels is the root cause of gun violence a day after executive action tightening control and enforcement of firearms in the U.S.
The president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and of Samaritan's Purse posted a message to President Obama on his Facebook page stating the "executive actions will do nothing to change this horrific problem."
"It takes a human being, and a human heart bent on evil, to pick up a gun, load it, and pull the trigger. The problem we have in this country is sin," Graham went on to state. "We have a government that has taken God out of society. Our founding fathers certainly did not intend this to happen. Your proposal will do nothing to stop the violence that is being glorified by Hollywood."
Graham suggested a "heavy tax" on films or video games that depict violence. He postulates a drop in gun violence if the availability of graphically depicted violence becomes harder to find.
"As a nation we have turned our back on God and this kind of violence and bloodshed is a result," Graham summarized. "The only cure? Jesus Christ. That's what will make a difference in our nation."
