Former President Obama said to be in negotiations for Netflix shows

(Fox11)President Barack Obama is reportedly negotiating with Netflix to produce a series of shows for subscription service.

According to the New York Times, Netflix would pay Mr. Obama and his wife, Michelle, for exclusive content available only on the streaming service.

The exact number of shows and the format is still under negotiations. While the exact content of the shows is not yet known, according to sources, the Obamas want to use the platform to share inspirational stories.

The streaming service has nearly 118 million subscribers around the world.

While reportedly not a platform to respond to the Trump administration, the shows would give the former president an unfiltered channel of communication with the public, similar to his social media platforms.

Mr. Obama has more than ten million Twitter followers, and more than 50 million Facebook "likes."

There are reports that executives from Apple and Amazon are also interested in talking to the former president about producing content on those streaming services as well
