Firefighters respond to explosion, fire at San Clemente home
SAN CLEMENTE (CNS) - A fire destroyed a San Clemente home and damaged a home next to it Thursday, but no one was injured, authorities said.
An explosion was heard about 3 a.m. at the home in the 100 block of Avenida Dolores, prompting the man and the woman who live there, as well as their two dogs, to leave, said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.
The blaze, which spread to a home next to it, was knocked down a little more than an hour later by 30 firefighters, Kurtz said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation but Kurtz said a ruptured gas line was discovered and authorities were working to shut the gas off.
One of the dogs was reported to be loose in the neighborhood, Kurtz said.
