Elderly Couple Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Carson

Deputies from the sheriff's Carson station responded to the home in the 500 block of East Moorehaven Drive at 6:34 a.m. regarding a "check the vicinity" call for service, Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau said.

"During the deputies' investigation, the sound of a gunshot was heard coming from inside of the residence,'' Navarro-Suarez said. "One person is believed to be inside the residence, however it is unknown if there may be more.''

A sheriff's Special Weapons Team and crisis negotiators were sent to the location and some surrounding homes were evacuated, she said.

After about eight hours, deputies entered the home and found two adults dead inside, Navarro-Suarez said.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau Lt. Dave Coleman told reporters at the scene the deceased were a husband, about 70 years old, and his wife. The man had called his son in the Antelope Valley to say he had just killed his wife, the son's mother, Coleman said.

They had been married for 55 years, according to one report.

Their names would be released by the coroner's office, Navarro-Suarez said.
