Drone Halts Air Drops Over San Bernardino County Brush Fire

(FOX 11) Don't fly drones over wild fires.

Air drops over a brush fire in San Bernardino County were temporarily halted Sunday due to a recreational drone in the area, officials said.

The "Mill fire" was reported at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday near Mill Creek Road (Highway 38), Cal Fire officials said. Four large homes were threatented and had to be evacuted, officials said.

By late Sunday, the fire had burned 35 acres and was 10 percent contained.

Air drops resumed operations after about 20 minutes, but officials urged individuals and organizations that fly drones to avoid wildfire areas to ensure the safety of firefighters and the effectiveness of fighting fires.

"If you fly, we cannot. It's just that easy."
