Domestic violence suspect arrested after barricading himself in Azusa home
AZUSA, Ca (FOX 11/ CNS) - Azusa police arrested a domestic-violence suspect on Monday who had holed up in a residence in Azusa with two children, who were released before he surrendered.
Police and a sheriff's SWAT team were sent to the 900 block of North Azusa Avenue about 7 a.m. The children -- a 12-year old boy and a 17-month-old girl -- were released late this morning, but the man remained inside the residence until the noon hour, according to the sheriff's department.
According to reports from the scene, the standoff began after the man -- whose name was not immediately released -- allegedly assaulted a woman, who escaped. The two reportedly are the girl's parents, but it was unclear if the
boy is the son of either the man or woman.
During the standoff, police said there was no threat to the community, but they urged people to remain inside their homes, and away from doors and windows as a precaution.
