Dog 'T-Rex' recovering after being stabbed in Santa Paula

The injured 2-year-old male American pit bull terrier named T-Rex was found bleeding profusely near the area of Saticoy Street and North 14th Street Friday night. Santa Paula police say T-Rex was stabbed five times.

This afternoon the dog has had another bleed from the neck wound. It was repaired and they are trying very hard to keep him sedated and quiet so the wound can heal. He has required one additional transfusion. Vets do not know whether multiple blood vessels may have been cut and would prefer not to have to do another surgery to find out. He is on meds to try to seal the wounds medically. No visits were allowed today.

The dog is so friendly that he gets up and wags his tail whenever somebody walks by!

The bill is escalating dramatically and exceeds $5,000.00 at this time. Any donations are gratefully accepted via our website at www.santapaulaarc.org (reference T-Rex)

Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team, or START Rescue, is offering a $1,000 reward to the person who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects responsible for the stabbing. The reward was increased to $2,000 on Sunday.

Anyone with further information was urged to contact the Santa Paula Police Department at (805) 525-4474 or Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (805) 222-8477.
