Detectives investigate third deadly shooting in La Puente in four days

Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man that occurred Monday afternoon in La Puente -- the third deadly shooting in the city in less than a week.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says Monday's fatal shooting happened at about 2:55 p.m. in the 15400 block of Temple Avenue. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering from a single gunshot wound to the body.

Neither the identity of the victim or information on the gunman were immediately known. Investigators continued canvassing the area for evidence late into the night.

On June 30, a man was shot and killed and two others injured in the 400 block of Tonopah Avenue.

On June 28, a 31-year-old man was shot and killed and another man injured in the 100 block of North Winton Avenue.

It's unknown if all three shootings are connected. The investigation is ongoing.
