Day of walkouts at schools across the Los Angeles area
LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - It was a day of walkouts and protests for students across the country. It's been exactly one month since the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
Students from Burbank to Sun Valley, Crescenta to Mid-City either walked out of their schools or out of their classrooms to voice their concerns about school safety and gun violence.
It was a scene repeated across Southern California and across the country. Some demonstrations were more rebellious than others.
High school students from Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies were off campus and chanting loudly, and at Sun Valley Polytechnic, students stayed on campus, but in a show of unity, they made a ring around the track and filled the stands.
At Crescenta Valley High School, 17 students released 17 doves to represent the 17 victims at Stoneman Douglas High School.
Some parents came to support the students. Keiko Feldman was clearly moved by the demonstration as her son Zach took the lead in their school's protest.
Students vow their campaign to end gun violence 'won't end' once they walk back into their classrooms, wanting to participate in the March For Our Lives and anything else that will help support the cause.
