Crews battling newly sparked Soledad Fire in Santa Clarita
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Crews are battling a brush fire being called the Soledad Fire burning in the Santa Clarita area Wednesday afternoon.
The fire broke out on the northbound 14 Freeway about a mile south of the Soledad Canyon Road exit and quickly burned about 30 acres of dry brush while spreading at a moderate rate, according to fire officials.
Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Angeles National Forest managed to stop the spread of the fire by 4:19 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol shut down two right traffic lanes of the northbound 14 Freeway. All lanes have since reopened.
No structures were threatened.
The public is being asked to avoid the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
